In my Garden.....

Every Autumn I get these.....

Don Burke describes them like this.....

"For dramatic autumn colour, tree dahlias are hard to beat. They are giant plants with huge leaves and stems, and shaggy, lavender flowers resembling ballerinas' tutus. It's not only the appearance of the tree dahlia which causes drama in the garden - so do the very brittle stems. One minute you can be proudly showing your tree dahlia off to the neighbours, then before you know it, a sudden gust of wind has blown the whole plant over! "

All I know is I love them......

Mum had one of these and for some reason I did not grab a cutting either while she was there or when we sold the house.
I have this year replaced the weeping Japanese Maple that I gave her and I do not think she really appreciated for some reason....I loved it as it had feathery leaves....the one I have now seems to color more...hope the worst of the drought is over.
